Good chilly morning everyone! Winter weather has been especially cold and unpredictable this year. The only thing for it is to bundle up on the couch with some ice cream… Okay so that does seem strange, but studies have shown that Americans eat more ice cream in winter than in the summer. Perhaps it’s an unusual nostalgia for summer. Well if you are going to be snuggling with your loved ones, why not treat them to a delicious s’more sundae.
An easy graham cracker ice cream with a gooey brownie make this s’more sundae something to savor. The warm chocolate and the cold sweet ice cream are the perfect combination. Whether you are in love with s’mores or need a divine dessert for Valentine’s day, you will love it.
Merry (almost) Christmas everyone! Less than two weeks until Christmas, are you ready? Now that there is snow on the ground, it feels a lot like Christmas. But I’m still not quite ready. For all those who have their gifts bought and wrapped, hats off to you! My list isn’t quite finished yet. One thing I am ready for is the extended family Christmas party. As you know, I love to give new twists to classic flavors and recipes. So this year for the party, I gave peppermint a different twist by making a peppermint cream dessert with chocolate wafers.
This layered dessert is light and refreshing. The blend of peppermint and chocolate is perfect for the holidays especially after a hearty Christmas feast. Cream softens the peppermint flavor so even those who avoid candy canes will love it. This yummy dessert is destined to become a Christmas favorite at your holiday party.
Hi everyone! Finally the leaves are turning, the weather is getting cozy, and autumn is here at last. I can’t get enough of this beautiful time of year: leaf piles, rich colors, and beverages, especially hot tea. I know kids and adults are looking forward to the holidays fast approaching us. There are some great autumn parties on the horizon. So I wanted to come up with a truly fall treat for the entire family. Hoping to be essentially fall-ish, I made spiced pumpkin cereal treats filled with candy. They are not only shaped like adorable little pumpkins but are flavored with pumpkin spice. Let’s face it, pumpkin spice is unavoidable this time of year.
These tasty treats are easy to make packed with flavor…and candy. Combining pumpkin spice, cereal, and candy into adorable pumpkins is fantastic for harvest and Halloween parties alike. This autumn twist on the classic treat that your entire family will love.
Hello, isn’t summer just flying by. I can’t believe it’s already the end of July. But there is still plenty of fun and sunshine. Our extended family has decided to get together once a month throughout the summer for dinner and a bonfire. It’s great to stay in touch over the busy summer months and enjoy each other’s company. Everyone brings something to share. So I decided to raid the recipe box again. I found a simple recipe for a delicious jam cake.
This cake is light and moist with a tremendous amount of flavor. It has received rave reviews from family and friends. So I know yours will love it too. You can even try changing it up with different flavors of jam. It’s the perfect refreshing cake for summer get togethers.
Hello there! Summer is definitely here according to the weather if not the calendar. I have turned on the air conditioning in my home while the oven is only used when absolutely necessary. With Father’s Day coming up, it’s going to be necessary. But who wants to bake in ninety degree weather? Not me. So this year I want to keep the baking quick not to mention easy. In my vintage recipe box, I found a recipe for peach pie. My dad loves peaches, and the recipe was really easy. So it is perfect for Father’s Day.
Using premade pie crust and frozen peaches makes this pie a snap to make. The rich cream and cinnamon filling is delicious and versatile. Just switch out the peach for apples, pears, or whatever fruit you want for a delicious pie in no time.
Hello! I hope your Mother’s Day was fantastic. My family and I spent the day enjoying some of my mom’s and my favorite treats. It was filled with fun and delicious treats. Fresh from my culinary adventure, I wanted to make something I had never attempted before. First I tried to make taffy, but that did not turn out well. Instead of soft, stretchy taffy, I got rock hard unicorn horns. So I decided on something slightly less ambitious; homemade caramels. At least there’s no pulling hot sugar with this recipe.
It is surprising how simply this recipe is. With a bit of patience and a lot of stirring, you can make this soft, buttery caramel. Adding the pretzel gives this super sweet candy a bit of salt and crunch. Homemade caramel can be intimidating, but this recipe breaks it down step by step. So you can treat your family and friends with homemade candy.
Hello everyone! I hope you are having a fantastic day so far. The Easter holiday with my family was wonderful, but I’m glad to get back to normal. Of course normal means I don’t really have a theme for my bakes. So I headed to my great grandmother’s recipe box again for something delicious. She had two recipes for butterscotch brownies that were exactly the same, but by two different people. If school taught me anything it’s that when the teacher repeats something it is important, and probably on a test. I decided to do a little test of my own by turning the original recipe into something even better. With a bit of experimenting, I created a recipe for espresso chocolate chip blondies.
Experimenting with food and flavors is always fun. This time I’ll share great grandmother’s original butterscotch brownies and my espresso chocolate chip blondies. They both turned out deliciously. So why not try them both and decide which is the best butterscotch brownie recipe?
Good morning all! Can you believe Easter is only two weeks away? The entire weekend is going to be chalk full of activities and family time. I have such fund memories of Easter growing up. The whole family would get together at my grandmother’s house at church. First we’d have an Easter egg hunt, then Sunday lunch, and finally a jelly bean hunt before sitting down to visit and play games. As you can imagine, Easter usually lasts all day for our family. So this year I thought I would bring a fun dessert for everyone to enjoy. After looking through my great grandmother’s recipe box, I found a yummy recipe for carrot cake. To make it a special treat I made an Easter egg shaped carrot cake.
This egg shaped cake is actually easy to make and only uses one batch of carrot cake batter. The allspice instead of nutmeg is a nice change and doesn’t overwhelm the cake. Your family will adore and devour this delicious carrot cake this Easter.
Good day everyone! I hope you are still soldiering on well through this crazy winter. The dip back down well below freezing is quite unwelcome. But I suppose it is just March and could be a whole lot worse. One thing to be excited about in March is St. Patrick’s Day, which is tomorrow! To celebrate St. Paddy’s Day on such short notice, I created this delicious cereal treat in the shape of a clover.
This festive dessert is quick and easy to make. With just a few ingredients and some cookie cutters you can make this delightful cereal treat. It was the talk of our party and I’m certain your guests will love it too.
Good morning everyone! Just under a week till Valentine’s Day! I know lots of you already have your dinner reservation. And if you haven’t, I hope you have a plan B. Otherwise I highly recommend planning a lovely night in, which is what my family and I do every year. It’s less of a headache for everyone. This year I wanted to bake a special treat for everyone. Not everyone loves chocolate as much as I do, but we all love cinnamon rolls and cinnamon roll inspired treats. To keep with the Valentine’s Day theme, I created these delicious cinnamon twist pastry hearts.
These pastry hearts might look complicated, but with pre-made pastry sheets these tasty treats are easy to whip up. The rich cinnamon and brown sugar swirled throughout is so delicious. If you take it a step further and create the pink cream cheese frosting it’s like eating the middle of a cinnamon roll, which is the best part. 😀
