Are you ready for fall yet? I can’t wait! I’m kinda over summer. If you have a student going into college, they are experiencing a mixture of excitement and nerves. The thought of living in the dorms is especially fun and a bit scary. When I was in college, my roommate and I made our room one of the cutest on that floor. Making the dorm room a comfy oasis is a must for students that are away from home. But that can get expensive, so this week I decided to do a budget decor DIY for any dorm room or bedroom.
These pillows can be made very cheaply or even free. You can customize these t-shirt pillows for anyone with the right shirt. I am currently on a t-shirt pillow making spree, as you can see. They are fun to make, and you can make your own in less than an hour.
Summer is winding down, and it’s nearly time for the kids to go back to school. But before that happens, my extended family has an annual family reunion. Despite the fact that fall is just around the corner, the weather is still hot and sunny. So I volunteered to bring a cool, summery dessert for the whole family to enjoy. I looked through my great grandmother’s recipe box and nothing seemed to fit. So I asked my mom and as always she had a fun and yummy recipe for a Watermelon Ice Cream Bombe.
It is super easy to make, and it only uses four ingredients. You can make it days ahead of time and leave it in your freezer until you need it. My family loved it, and I’m sure yours will also enjoy this clever play on a favorite summer melon.
Did you know that August 4th was National Chocolate Chip Cookie day? I’ve been researching fun and weird holidays lately, and I used this opportunity to bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies. While no one actually needs a holiday to make cookies, especially when you make these cookies, it is fun to know that there is such a holiday. After baking up some cookies, I wanted to display my yummy treats for all to enjoy, but I just wasn’t in the mood to throw them on a regular plate. So I made a cookie tray that is just too adorable, and you can easily make one too.
Isn’t it just too cute? A giant cookie to hold other cookies for all to enjoy. I even made a template with three options so you can choose which adorable face you want on your cookie try.
The summer has been flying by. It is the beginning of August but school will be starting before you know it. Instead of running around trying to get everything ready at the last minute, I want plenty of time to get the best deals on school essentials…and non-essentials. 🙂 Thankfully Heartland America has a variety of items that you can check off your back to school list. I have put together some great ideas for back to school, especially if your children are headed off to college.
