I can’t believe it’s already the end of February. It feels like it was just Valentine’s Day although right now it feels like spring with wonderfully warm unseasonable temps here in Minnesota. I long to put away my winter boots and heavy coats and bring out cuter jackets, but it’s really not an option yet since you never know what the weather is going to do here.
With Valentine’s Day, New York Fashion Week, and the Oscars all happening in the month of February, I’ve been feeling like I need to work on my personal style. But I don’t want to shell out major money for a new wardrobe, I’d rather use what I have on hand and make something unique and very me.
I enjoy vintage looks, and I’m an avid reader. (I’ve been known to stay up till 3am to finish the book I started that evening. That’s why I don’t start a book on a weekday.) I also have a collection of vintage books that I just like the look of, and although they look great sitting on my coffee table I’m starting to get a surplus of vintage but not interesting books. The book purses that I’ve seen online are adorable, but I carry around too much to fit into one of those. I realized that everything doesn’t have to fit into one, but it can make a charming makeup bag.
It turned out so well I wanted to share it with you so that you can make one for yourself. Because smart is the new sexy. 😉
The weather has been cold and unpredictable as it always is during a Minnesota winter. Although it is a frozen tundra outside, life still goes on and braving the cold is an everyday challenge. I have to admit that it does look lovely and curling up with a hot tea while watching as the birds and other wildlife scamper about is quite relaxing. Full bird feeders and a variety of bird houses around the yard keep a wide variety of activity in the backyard.
February is actually National Bird Feeding Month, so I thought why not make something for my wild feathered friends this week? So searching the web and my library of craft books, I was inspired to create Bird Seed Bagels.
This DIY is easy, cheap, and 100% of it can be used by the birds.
I hope the team you were cheering for during the big game won and if not hopefully you had lots of great snacks to drown your sorrows. Thankfully Valentine’s Day is just around the corner which means chocolate, roses, hearts, and love themed everything. Although love is in the air and everywhere, my Valentine’s Day decor is sadly lacking. But Valentine’s Day gifts take priority over decor in my budget. So if I want to show my home some love, any project I choose has to be inexpensive and I thrive on that challenge. Going through my stash of crafting supplies, I found some spray paint from another project and a bit of inexpensive lace. That inspired me to create a Valentine’s Day DIY: a Love and Lace canvas.
It’s really easy and quick to make and doesn’t take a lot of supplies. You can make our own in just one evening.
Tomorrow, February 5th, is World Nutella® Day. So in honor of that, I have a yummy recipe for you – not that anyone really needs an excuse to enjoy Nutella®.
Confession: I could eat a whole jar of Nutella® by myself…but that’s certainly not good for my waistline no matter how yummy it is. So the only time I buy Nutella® is if I can make something to share with others.
With the big game and Valentine’s Day right around the corner, it is a great opportunity to make something sweet to share with the people I love. And this recipe only takes 4 ingredients, win win!
Ok it’s five if you count the powdered sugar to make cute designs on top. These Nutella Popcorn Balls can be shaped into hearts like is pictured above or whatever shape you want.
Without further ado, let’s get cooking!
